I noticed an spellbinding trend in the negative reviews this Movie was getting. By and gargantuan, people who found this movie lifeless or dull did not scrutinize the novel series. Well folks…that explains it.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Escaflowne - The Movie! Click Here

Unlike most Anime movie tie-ins, I.E. Cowboy Bebop or Blue Gender, the Escaflowne movie is really a re-imagination of its progenitor. While in the series the Escaflowne armor was a royal heirloom, in this it is the embodiment of destiny and a living being. And while Hitomi was painfully innocent and upbeat in the series, here she is gloomy, lonely and suicidal. Best of all, Van is equally dismal and has lost the dauntless stoicism for apathy and a-moralism. All these things are so different from the series its like watching Alice in Wonderland then playing American Magee’s Alice (which, if you haven’t seen or played, you should) .

I will admit that when I first bought this DVD I too was disappointed. The action was smart and all but the legend dealt too noteworthy with ethereal Fate and Destiny, thing I really could care less about. But then I watched the series, which brings in these subjects a diminutive less jarringly and I found the whole plan considerable more edible. And, while I was initially disgusted with the characters of this DVD, namely Hitomi and the cat girl, when I understood the origins of these characters, I loved the change. The basic tale you can win from the other reviews, I abhor to give stuff away. But while the series focused on Van’s recede and growth into a warrior, the Movie focuses on the shaded prophecy to which he is chained.

But if you really want an endorsement from me, here it is. Escaflowne the Movie is an awesome experience for the inaugurate to the series. Escaflowne the Movie is a sub par experience for those who are bereft of the Series. But above all else, Escaflowne the Movie is worth watching for the absolutely improbable music, which really steals the explain. If nothing else, then rent this DVD and stick in a system with surround sound. Then turn off the TV and crank the volume…you will not be disappointed.

I purchased the Escaflowne Movie (Ultimate Edition), three years ago. The first-edition packaging of this spot included a relatively tall, and sturdy 6 x 8 x 3 scurry folding box. Stored in this box were three disks (two DVDs and one CD), and a microscopic art booklet. The outside of the collectors box was a beauty to watch, as the artwork on the attend and front sides were done in a glossy execute. Only 10,000 units of the first edition were ever made.

The upcoming second-edition release of this status, will include everything as the novel release (except the collectors box) . All three disks will be stored in a standard plastic casing.

As for the disclose of the disks, they are quite exquisite. There are two DVDs, one containing the movie, and the other containing extras (music videos, cast interviews, etc.) . The music CD contains a whopping 25 tracks, and includes some lovely vocal performances from Maaya Sakamoto, and Shanti Snyder.

The Escaflowne Movie sets a considerable darker tone, and takes station in an alternate-universe to the TV series. For those who are unusual to Escaflowne, you will feel welcomed, as the movie is stand-alone from the rest of the series. All in all, the movie is an awesome experience, and I highly recommend it for anyone’s anime collection.

When I first heard about this movie I was thrilled. Now that I saw it, I can say it was worth my time. The movie is luminous, witty, and a pleasure to survey - an endless stream of layouts. And distinguished insights, commentaries and history. Oh yes, the film is also inspirational - it makes you assume about top-notch originate. It makes you desire top-notch get, whatever that may mean today.

My favourite quote from the movie:

“The life of a designer is a life of fighting–fight against the ugliness, objective like a doctor fights against disease. For us visual disease is what we have around and what we try to do is try to cure it somehow, you know, with construct.” Thanks Mr. Vignelli for putting things into perspective.

I have caught some of these episodes on History Channel and this series is the one to perceive if you’re at all eager in belief and experiencing the stale civilizations covered, be it Petra, Rome, Greece, the Mayans, etc.

The series, which encompasses 27 journeys to sites and cities, not only presents novel filming, but also, in many cases re-creates the sites using phenonemal computer graphics that let you sort of notice what these places looked like when they were built.

This is so comprehensive, I can’t wait to catch it.

I agree with others that this is one of the best historical documentaries available, especially on Classical Mediterranean civilizations (Greece, Rome, and others) . There are six discs in the series, each disc containing five episodes of 20 minutes, except the last disc which has only two. Although 20 minutes may not sound like distinguished, so worthy is packed into each episode that they do not disapoint.

Each episode shows historical ruins related to its subject, beginning with maps to let you know when and where you are, and frequently using animation to reconstruct the ruins as they appeared in their prime. The narration uses the pictures as a starting point to discuss the culture and history represented by the ruins. The series frequently provides a fairly in depth discussion of the culture, ordinary life, religion, etc. of the peoples who lived in these locations, not impartial stories of battles and rulers.

The other outstanding aspect of this series is that it covers a wide variety of cultures, time periods, and geography. It works best where history can be told as the history of individual cities, which is the case in the Mediterranean world (the sizable majority of the episodes) and also for the Mayans in America.

A genuine example of the current near of this series is episode two. From the title “Shapely Rome”, I was expecting a tour of classical Rome using models and virtual recreations, since apt examples of these are now available. Instead, the episode showed only brief shots of the unreconstructed Roman forum, and centered instead on the ruins of outlying Roman cities to exhibit the accepted culture which existed over the extent of the empire.

Beefcake is a light-hearted, semi-documentary about the life and times of a muscle-magazine, Physique pictorial. Published during the puritanical 1950ies, it made quite a slouch.

PP was the unusual hunk-o-rama, with hundreds of smiling, tanned and muscled young men flashing their goods at you. Of course, it was not strictly a nude-mag (the models wore limited pouches in front of you know what..) but the blissful readers had a field time anyway! The publishers also made short films featuring their hunky stars. It was all marketed as “promoting health and physical fitness in young minds”

Looking support at those “innocent” times from this liberal day and age, we can only smile at the cunning and bravery that went into it. The brains slack PP, Bob Mizer, was actually jailed and fined several times on charges of renting out his models as escorts to rich men. Unexcited, the mag continued into the 60’s and 70’s.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Beefcake! Click Here

Watching Beefcake is like flipping through those pages of PP, stopping occasionally for some reconstructed dramatic scenes. But the best parts are watching the guys modelling, doing some amateur acting in front of Mizer’s camera and generally horsing around. Enormous fun!

There are several interviews with the guys who posed for the mag, one of them, Joe Dallesandro, apparently did his posing mostly nude! There is, in fact, copious nudity in Beefcake, and the men are all astonishing looking.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Beefcake! Click Here

There are some gargantuan contemporary songs on the soundtrack, as well. A obedient time movie for the (mostly) joyful crowd.

First of all, for those of you out who like straight-forward state lines with twists and turns throughout, object to male nudity and score bored if something doesn’t blow up in the first 15 minutes - then do not search for this movie.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Beefcake! Click Here

As for the rest of us, who can indulge in luminous mock-u-mentory styled films, “BeefCake” is a astonishing scheme to exhaust a Sunday evening. Through flashback sequences, photo clips and interiews with ex-hustlers/models from the 1950’s, we receive the sage of Robert Henry Mizer and his Athletic Model Guild. The movie jumps around a bit between Mizer’s history with his pulp art magazine, his good troubles for running escorts as well as the interviews, which makes one wonder how scatterbrained director Thom Fitzgerald really is. But the acting is apt, the scenes are funny/interesting and there’s plenty of male nudity to go around. Where can you go improper?

In Yu Yu Hakusho: Third Strike, you will accept 14 very engaging and action packed episodes of the note. Specifically, this volume contains episodes 29 to 42 so if you haven’t seen the earlier episodes, you may become lost while reading the following review.

Yusuke Urameshi and his teammates Kurama, Hiei, Kuwabara, and a mysterious Masked Fighter have begun their first battle in the Dusky Tournament against team Rokuyokai. The matches during this first round of the tournament are definitely action packed and very spellbinding. After Hiei defeats the assumed team leader Zeru, a mysterious man shows up appearing to be nothing more than a drunk, but looks can be decieving… It’s Yusuke’s first match of the tournament and it’s a capable one!

In the tournament’s second round, our heros must face the Dr. Ichigaki Team without Hiei and Kurama who are mysteriously missing. It’s a three on three battle royal, but why does Kuwabara feel abominable for his opponents? After discovering the horrid truth, Kuwabara makes his stand with disastrous consequences. Finally, the Masked Fighter must step in to abet in the brilliantly titled episode: Ambition Destroyed: A Trial by Light. The Dr. Ichigaki team fight is very emotional and the emotional side sometimes overpowers the action itself, which is splendid in this fight. The Doctor himself is a suitable villain who you worship to detest just up until Yusuke shows him the error of his ways.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Yu Yu Hakusho Third Strike eps. 29-42! Click Here

The tired Urameshi team must immediately follow the previous battle by facing Team Masho in round three of the Dismal Tournament. Hiei and the Masked Fighter are ruled unfit to fight and Kuwabara is in gross damage - only Yusuke and Kurama are left to face the whole team! Team Masho is a group of Shinobi who each specialize in some art. The excitement doesn’t discontinuance as you seek how Kurama and Yusuke overcome inferior rulings by the tournament committee. Finally, the Team Masho leader Risho will observe down an unlikely opponent, and Team Urameshi’s only hope to making it to the semifinals.

Overall, this DVD dwelling is terrific. It centers on the Black Tournament’s first three rounds. You can gape the episodes in English or Japanese with subtitles and the extras are lacking, but to bag 14 episodes for fair over 30 dollars is indeed a titanic deal. Again, these episodes are extremely focused around action with some emotion, so if action isn’t your thing, you may not savor this. Quiet, there are some humorous moments and Yu Yu Hakusho is a terrific exhibit. I recommend this DVD to all fans of anime.

“Yu Yu Hakusho: Second Wind” first season ended with Yusuke and his buddies coming to the Sad Tournament, positive to fight their arrangement to the finals, and defeat Toguro’s team.

So it’s already radiant determined what “Yu Yu Hakusho: Third Strike” consists of — a string of one-on-one fights, with Yusuke and his buddies fighting a series of increasingly hazardous enemies. There’s not a tall deal of central location beyond this, but the uncertain problems for Team Urameshi — as well as some cloak-and-dagger machinations — preserve things lively.

After Kuwabara barely survives his opening bout with the creepy child Rinku, his teammates square off against other members of Team Rokuyukai — Kurama is blackmailed during his bout and must exhaust his wits to survive against the man who threatens his mother, Yusuke dukes it out with a drunken warrior, and Hiei unleashes a devastating fire attack called Dragon of the Darkness Flame.

But things catch a irascible turn when they fight Team Ichigaki, a group of human martial artists being controlled by a malignant scientist. The kindhearted Kuwabara can’t bring himself to pain three innocents even if they are out to slay him — and the mysterious Masked Fighter may be their only hope. And even worse, Kurama and a badly injured Hiei are being attacked outside the stadium. Then Team Urameshi is pitted against a team of lethal ninja with no time to rest. Even worse, Hiei and the Masked Fighter have been tricked into a forcefield, and Kuwabara is badly injured.

Kurama is pitted against a master of body paint who imprisons his body and demon powers, and then a lethal ice master who intends to retract advantage of his helplessness. With Kurama half-dead from his wounds, Yusuke sets off on a wrathful string of fights, against the honorless thug Bakken and the quirky Irish wind demon Jin. But it may not be enough to triumph…

The first and second collections of “Yu Yu Hakusho” basically consisted of a string of smaller adventure arcs, with Yusuke working to vanquish the villain of the week. But “Yu Yu Hakusho: Third Strike” takes a very different format — instead we fetch a series of one-on-one fights. It sounds a bit stupid, but the various superpowers — and some appealing side subplots, such as Sakyo’s machinations — withhold it from being so.

The fights themselves are fair knowing — killer plants, ice, blood paint, fire dragons, limited tornados, killer robots, and a warrior who can coat himself in clay armor. So needless to say, the battles are fairly engaging and there’s really no map of telling how some of them will turn out. The whole subplot about Dr. Ichigaki and his helpless guinea pigs is attractive wrenching, although the ending is a bit limp.

But equally enthralling are the stories outside the ring — Toguro and his equally villainous partner Sakyo are doing some behind-the-scenes scheming, although Toguro’s grand side is also glimpsed. It adds a bit of spice to Team Urameshi’s forthcoming battles with Team Toguro, because a lot more than their lives are now riding on their victory.

Yusuke spends the first few episodes sleeping like a talking log — he does some exquisite advantageous fights, and we rep to look his peril when Kurama and Kuwabara are being slowly killed in front of him. Hiei is badly injured in an attempt to master a current technique, and Kurama’s abilities are stretched to the limit when he has to somehow defeat an Ice Master without his abilities.

Kuwabara is the only one who doesn’t change mighty, but he serves as the kind heart of the team, and even fights when he can barely stand for his friends’ sake. And he provides some silly relief, such as when he sees his beloved Yukina watching his fight.

“Yu Yu Hakusho: Third Strike” is basically an escalating string of supernatural fights, but it’s radiant enough to not be humdrum. It ends on a solid stamp, and promises to earn even more inspiring.

John (Owen Wilson) & Jeremy (Vince Vaughn) are best buds. They’ve known each other for 17 years, work together, and in there spare time wreck wedding parties; where they drink like sailors, mingle with unsuspecting relatives, and hit on single and willing brides maids every chance they come by. They have a whole science to their crashing ( rules and all), and have become quite adept at the sport.

During the lavish formal affair, Jeremy makes headway with Cleary’s physcopath daughter Gloria ( a hilarious Isla Fisher), while John slowly maneuvers his draw into the life of the Secretary’s other daughter Claire (Rachel McAdams), who honest happens to have a loyal bo’ of her possess.

Eventually, after all the formalities– the two are privately invited encourage to the Secretary’s estate, where they play touch football with the family, have formal dinners, skim out on the boat, & acquire hit on by the Secretary’s sex starved wife (Jane Seymour) & his homosexual son Todd (Keir O’Donnell) .

Its all very comic and silly- but the colossal chemistry by Wilson and Vaughn helps the film go at a dependable go. The supporting roles of McAdams and Fishler are nicely fleshed out as well. While no means a vast movie, “The Wedding Crashers” is quite comical at times, and overall exquisite.

Some people have called this a raunchy, gross-out comedy; although I noticed nothing of the sort. Besides the dialogue and a few breast shots, theres really nothing raunchy or gross-out about “Wedding Crashers” at all. It certainly wouldnt drop into the category of “Something About Mary” or the “American Pie” movies.

Vaughn and Wilson definitley shine throughout and appear to be having the time of their lives here….

Recommended.

I work as a psychotherapist with adolescents and young adults. I exhaust “Smoke Signals” with them by assigning them to rent and concept the movie, which is always delightful because it’s witty, funny, wise, and considerable. The movie poses two significant questions: 1) If someone else has mistreated, injure, abandoned, or disrespected you, is it possible to forgive them if they’ve NEVER asked forgiveness, never done anything to “save it correct,” never returned in atonement to undo the afflict, and never begtun to deserve it? And 2) if it *is* possible–and it may not be–SHOULD you? Because if you do, doesn’t that objective construct you a willing victim by letting them “acquire away” with what they did, and pretending the relationship is okay again?

Victor lives in the tension of this spot. As a 12-year-old youth, he witnessed the effects of alcohol on his family. His father vascillated between being loving and instantly “turning” to become hostile, violent, and humiliating to the young boy. Victor finds himself becoming more deeply embarrassed by his family’s domestic abuse and alcohol exercise, even defiantly scolding his absorb father that his celebrated Indian is “Nobody…nobody…nobody!”

Victor’s mother awakens the next morning to recognize Victor angrily smashing his father’s beer bottles on the wait on of his father’s picup truck (the two things he believes his father loves more than him), and the epiphany stuns the mother, who insists on an immediate ruin to family drunkenness. Proving Victor’s fears correct, the father–forced to decide between alcohol and family–flees the family, and never returns. It is within that unchanged scheme that his father dies, 8 years later, having never returned home.

Victor and his oddball companion Thomas produce a side-splittingly laughable coast south from Idaho to Phoenix together to earn arrangements for the father’s possessions, confronted by the racism, peculiarities, and hostilities of the non-Indian “outside” world. Thomas, having never seen the dim side of Victor’s father, irritates Victor with incessant stories and tales about the dad’s greatness.

Victor, having been so deeply wounded and sold-out by his father’s abandonment, has become tough, fierce, aggressive…and lonely. “You can’t trust anyone!” he scolds. “People will amble all over you!” His mistrust poisons his friendships, family, and feelings about his father. He’s become unprejudiced another tough guy, hardened by family violence and substance utilize.

In Phoenix, Victor finds an significant artifact of his father’s life: a worn-out photo with “HOME” written sloppily on it. At once, Victor begins to realize that his father’s fatal flaw was COWARDICE: the father could confess his sins to current companions a thousand miles from home, but could never return home and undo the hurt he’d caused. And so his son has suffered for 8 years. Victor begins to realize that he himself is allowing his actions to harm others, and that it is cowardice, not manly independence, that controls his decision to remain distant and fierce.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Smoke Signals! Click Here

Victor slowly begins to repent of his occupy abusive toughness, cutting his hair in symbolic repentance (frail hair-cutting is done either in wretchedness, or in repentence for gross behavior) . The process of discovery continues when Thomas angrily confronts Victor about Victor’s hold behavior: remaining cool and distant from his fill mother, acting forceful and ruthless to others, etc.

Victor ends the film by freeing himself of his 8-year hostility toward his unforgiven father, and in that final act of forgiveness we earn that the greatest abet is for VICTOR, who becomes kinder, funnier, gentler, and more confident in his friendships. The significance of forgiveness, he learns, isn’t to let someone else off the hook, but to let one’s bear self off the hook of the afflict caused by another, rather than carrying that hurt inside for years.

In the final scene, this release of used nettle is represented by the cathartic release of his father’s ashes into a river, meaningfully shown in film montage as expanding in power from streams into torrents, powerful like the energy of either a person indignant or a person residence free.

It is at the extinguish of the film that we really initiate to understand Thomas’ modern cryptic content at the beginning, “Some children aren’t really children at all. They’re impartial pillars of flame that burn everything they touch. And some children are unprejudiced pillars of ash, and they tumble apart as soon as you touch them.”

Not one single person yet who’s watched this film at my urging has disliked it.

“Smoke Signals” was the first movie to be written, directed, and co-produced by a Native American. It is based on the original “The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven” by Sherman Alexie, who also published a movie adaptation of “Smoke Signals” as well.

The majority of the cast is from a variety of Canadian First Nations tribes (Skim Salish, Cree, Cayuga, Ojibwa), so there are different cultural backgrounds at work as well. “Smoke Signals” is a glide of the heart, an exploration of what it means to be Indian, venturing into the world outside the rez. Thomas’s stories are portion Indian account, allotment reweaving of the facts surrounding Victor and his father.

The account follows Victor Joseph as he goes to salvage the remains of his father, who had abandoned his family and moved to Arizona (the film’s working title was “This Is What It Means To Say Phoenix, Arizona,” based on a chapter of “The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven.” His wise friend Thomas Builds-the-Fire goes with him on a race from their rez in Coeur-d’Alene, Idaho to Arnold Joseph’s trailer in Arizona. Along the arrangement they rediscover their pasts and their perceptions of the world around them.

An fresh, touching film that pokes fun at the stoic Indian stereotypes endorsed by Hollywood for decades, such as the “It’s a superior day to die” line. There are many well-known First Nations actors (Adam Beach, Evan Adams, Tantoo Cardinal, Irene Bedard, Gary Farmer, Elaine Miles) that originate this film a joy to perceive. Inspired performances from all, especially Adam Beach and Gary Farmer. This is my favourite film of the last few years as it never loses its humour, mystical side, and beauty.

[Warning runt spoilers of scenes though not area.] These (double feature, sharing plots and actresses) movies have neither the standard new-fish-in-big-house WIP movie elements of #701 (first Scorpion movie) nor the magical mythical female avenger of the later parts of #701 and all of Jail house 41 (second Scorpion movie) . The actress is is of course dazzling but

much less memorable than Meiko Kaji (of #701 and jail-house 41) .

Rather there are more non-prison scenes which seem influenced by HK girl w/gun movies and MTV. There are tranquil some fun WIP movie bits and pieces, in particular a group Japanese hip bath in the prison, and some modest medical inspection strippings. There are also many sex scenes with varying degrees of nakedness.

These movies are definitely not classic WIPs, though certainly watchable. It also occurs to me that VJs might net the posthaste cuts of peculiar flashy naughtiness useful, though I of course do not serve any copyright violations.

Okay, let me preface this review by saying this disc is by no means classic material… … DOUBLE FEATURE. That means two times the Chiharu Kimatsu than your ordinary CK DVD (not that there are any others at unique, but I wish there were) . Based solely on the fact that you find two resplendent lively movies for the tag of one, ought to sell those on the fence of a occupy. I will say this: The first piece of the double feature is better than the second simply because it’s a simple setup for a tale that gets a runt out of hand and overexplained in the second piece. But what the hell. It’s exploitation, it’s supposed to go over the top. It makes it more fun that map. I’m attractive surprised more people haven’t reviewed this disc. Call up the fellers, crack a few bronsons, and have some whoops and giggles. It’s attractive candy, if you ask me.

Pokémon 2000 The Movie: The Power of One

This movie starts with a little short called “Pikachu’s Rescue Adventure.” Unlike the short which accompanied Pokémon The First Movie, Pikachu’s Rescue Adventure contains substance as well as cuteness. It focuses, as the name suggests, on Pikachu’s adventure rescuing–Togepi! The short treats the viewer to Pikachu’s intelligence, bravery, and of course, cuteness. Like the first short, it goes out of its way to show a wide variety of Pokémon, including four new ones, which I understand are named Hoothoot, Ladyba, Bellossom and Elekid. Elekid, a new electric Pokémon, plays a major role after becoming friends with Pikachu through an exchange of electricity. (Hoothoot and Bellossom now have played important roles in episodes of Pokémon: The Johto Journeys on television as well.) You’ll even finally get to see a Snorlax do something other than eat and sleep!

The Power of One itself seems substantially less dark than its precursor, yet manages to outdo the First Movie’s tale of MewTwo versus Mew. The Power of One Introduces us to a new Pokémon, a powerful Guardian of the Water named Lugia which is nearly as large as the three legendary birds–Moltres, Zapdos and Articuno–combined. It’s also nearly as powerful as the three combined. I say “nearly” because, according to an ancient prophecy, without the help of the Chosen One all of its efforts to stop the three from fighting will come to nothing, “making the world turn to ash.” And who should be the Chosen One? Well, as Misty realizes, the prophecy DOES say that the world will “turn to Ash.”

As an added little bonus, the movie finally provides first names for Professors Oak and Ivy, and for Mrs. Ketchum, Ash’s mom. It also gives two uproarious, albeit non-speaking cameo appearances by the original companion of Ash and Misty–Brock the Rock. Fans of Brock, myself included, may find his limited role disappointing. Fans of Tracey, Brock’s replacement, may also be disappointed at his limited role in The Power of One. Moltres fans might be disappointed that he isn’t a good-guy like he was in his one appearance in the TV series, and at the way he’s been drawn for the movie. Misty fans, however, will revel in her pivotal role.

Team Rocket fans, perpetually hoping to find their heroes playing a role other than that of the inept butt of jokes, will find their hopes finally realized. Team Rocket too plays a pivotal role in The Power of One, believe it or not, deliberately and through the creativity of Jesse, James and Meowth! Ah Team Rocket, we always knew your tendency to “think outside the box” would pay off one day.

In addition to Lugia and Team Rocket’s effectiveness, the movie offers something else new: a new Pokémon called Slowking. Slowking, the final evolved form of Slowpoke and Slowbro, resembles a Slowbro, but with the spiral Shellder on its head rather than on its tail. Best of all, the Slowking can speak. When you hear what he has to say, you’ll be glad he can. Lugia’s no slouch at communication either–like MewTwo, he just psychically speaks in Ash’s head. Neat, huh?

The Power of One offers an amazing spectacle of color and animation. The movie produces vibrant images, color and sound. I found the music good too, although I must warn you that as with the first movie, most of the songs on the soundtrack appear only over the closing credits and have little to do with the movie itself. At least more of the songs from the this soundtrack seem at least generally related to Pokémon. You will definitely want to watch the closing credits, however, both to hear “Weird” Al Yankovic’s “Polkamon” song and to see the second, hysterically-funny, cameo appearance by Brock. If you like Pokémon you will like this movie; your little Pokémaniac (either the one you tuck into bed at night or the one hiding inside you) will love it.

Many people criticized “Mewtwo Strikes Back” when the first Pokemon movie was released in the US, because in comparison with the excellent Japanese version it was a mess, missing out important things that explained about the characters (such as The Birth Of Mewtwo), and it had sloppy characterization.

However, I’m pleased to say that this film is generally much better than the first Pokemon movie. The plot involves a Pokemon collector called Laurence III who wants to capture the three Legendary birds Articuno. Zapdos and Moltres - or the Gods of Ice, Lightning and Fire as they’re called here. Unfortunately, this creates a huge problem with Earth’s weather patterns, causing violent storms and snow, and it is left up to Ash to get them back, and return things to normal.

There are some little hints to the possibility of an Ash/Misty romance in this film - when Ash arrives on the island at the beginning of the movie, a girl called Melody kisses Ash on the cheek which makes Misty really jealous, as well as some other cute moments.

Sadly, in spite of an improved plot I believe that, as before, the choice of music stands out as the film`s downfall and the producers haven`t learnt from the mistakes they made in the first film. Apart from a few exceptions (”The Legend Comes To Life” is a wonderful track), this movie replicates the same pop-styled rubbish used in the First Movie. The remix of the TV theme song (”Pokemon World” performed by Youngstown & Nobody’s Angel) is absolutely horrible, with a scratchy beat and synthesized vocals. The campaign to ban vocoders starts here…

Next time round, I would like to see a better choice of music which is less pop-orientated, but I`m not holding my breath…

Overall though, in spite of the terrible soundtrack, this is a major improvement on the First Movie which I think any Pokemon fan should add to their collection.

The only reason I didn’t give it five stars, is because of it’s confusing stamp as a different volume. This is a extraordinary anime and I very grand recommend it.
