Episode 206- THE RING OF Alarm (with short: THE PHANTOM CREEPS PT 3)

This black-and-white (b/w) 1962 “thriller” features the largest group of the oldest medical school students ever found at one time in any US college. After the “thrilling” opening in which a man endlessly searches for his cat, “Puma”, the film unfolds a less-than-suspenseful anecdote about a courageous medical student who must reach to grips with the one thing that does frighten him. The film stars no one, limited happens, the laughable relief in the film revolves around cheap shots taken at an overweight couple, and the horrid climax is more likely to induce sleep paralysis than alarm paralysis. Why do the students all behave like undergraduates when this is post-graduate medical school? Who cares, the whole thing is so inept, it’s hilarious! The MST3K host segments are all proper amusing, particularly the “former school sketch” and the sketch recreating the autopsy scene from the film. The short is another installment of Phantom Creeps with Bela Lugosi and the MST3K writers salvage lots of large comedy mileage out of that one. This is another Grand episode from legendarily hilarious season 2. Don’t miss it!

Episode 409- THE INDESTRUCTIBLE MAN (with short: UNDERSEA KINGDOM PT 2) Lon Chaney, Jr. is one of those movie greats that didn’t always say no when offered a less than stellar role, especially it seems as available parts dried up for him as he got older. This 1956 film is one he probably should have turned down unless he was really desperate for the paycheck, but we aid from his choice to appear in this film as it is quite comical all on its fill. Chaney plays “The Butcher”, an executed thug who ends up calm but not quite expressionless after his execution. Most of the film involves him silently seeking revenge on those who sent him to death row, with lots of really strange close-ups of his eyes. Joel and the `Bots hammer this film mercilessly in a non-stop manner with one big joke after another; it’s objective terrific! The short, Undersea Kingdom portion 2 with Ray “Smash” Corrigan, is also “ROTHLOL” amusing.

Episode 414- TORMENTED

This 1960 b/w film is a Bert I. Gordon “classic” about, Tom Stewart, a guy who doesn’t attach his passe girlfriend from an accidental fatal descend after she threatens to mess up his wedding plans to a Current England high society girl. Throughout the rest of the film he is “insecure” by her ghost and driven to the brink of madness and more abolish. The haunting scenes could not panic a puny child, but they are hilariously cheesy fun to sight. Is a ghost really haunting Tom or is his conscience honest getting to him? You’ll be laughing too hard to care great about that! You’ll also be reciting, “Tom Stewart killed me, Tom Stewart killed me” like a litany after the credits roll.

Episode 1011- HORRORS OF SPIDER ISLAND

This 1962 b/w film is a German-Yugoslav co-production and the dialogue dubbing adds powerful to the hilarity of this inept film. A group of female dancers is stranded on an island with only a few men and lots of excuses to prove as powerful skin as possible without any proper nudity. The scantily clad graceful girls seem to be most of the reason this film got made and mostly what the film’s makers expected would net people to peruse it. The giant spiders and the “horrific” results of their bite are about the poorest special effects and make-up one could examine from a film regardless of what year it was made. This is a very strong episode from MST3K’s final season.

Extra features on this plot include MST3K Video Jukebox Volume 2, Recent Theatrical Trailers (for all except “Ring of Dread”), a “Tormented” Reunion (with Bert I. Gordon, Susan Gordon and Joe Turkel) and the MST Hour “Jack Perkins” Wraps for “Tormented” featuring Mike Nelson as “Jack Perkins”.

Given the fact that some of these MST3K DVD sets go out of print rather like a flash due to issues with rights over the films musty in the explain, I’d recommend buying this plot suitable away. Don’t miss these four tall episodes. Movie impress!

If history has taught us anything it is this, you can’t depend on the unique MST3K sets to be available for long, so if you’re fervent it’s best to rep them while you can. Case in point, Mystery Science Theater 3000 volume 10… available for choose for about three months and then it was suddenly pulled from the shelves in a detached acquire with no replacements ever sent out. I myself had to derive Volume 10 off of eBay (at a hefty premium at that) because I waited too long thinking it was a prefer I could place off for a tiny bit. How imperfect I was. The upright of the myth is, when Volume 11 comes out, (as well as volumes 12, 13, 14 and so on), it’s better to hedge your bets and glean it as rapidly as possible before they vanish all too soon.

Oh, and my reason for giving Volume 11 here a 5-Star rating contemplate unseen… that’s objective me being the real Mistie fan-boy that I am. =^)

This is an capable synopsis of the uniqueness, magnitude and importance of the U.S. Constitution. Taking the viewer through each Article and Amendment, these videos clearly and easily define why the Framers found it indispensable to separate and limit the powers of government and what each branch of government is responsible for providing to the American people. The controversy over space versus federal rights and individual protection from the government is also well presented. Filled with tall pictures and footage, the Constitution and its amendments are outlined with the added comments of two assure and insightful professors. The videos are easy to follow and lend themselves well to student note-taking. These are a obvious asset to any government teacher’s video library.

This documentary is a solid intro to U.S. Constitution. It is mostly about basic facts, and as such is aimed at a high school audience. There is shrimp nuanced analysis of various Constitutional provisions. Its basic mission is to introduce the viewer to the Constitution, or to perform clear that one remembers basic facts about it, if one has to recall a relevant exam. If you direct a college course in American politics, as I do, then this video can be useful as a refresher on what the Constitution actually says. I am not a constitutional law expert, and the U.S. Constitution per se takes up one week of a sixteen week course, so I never examine the document in-depth. These tapes remind me of the basics, the foundation–and without such foundation the graceful edifice of more account for knowledge cannot stand.

Ever since I watched the Star Trek: Deep Plot Nine episode “Trials and Tribble-ations” serve in 1996 and saw the classic Enterprise displayed with original effects, I dreamed about one day seeing the entire Orignal Series retouched in such a radiant diagram. 10 years later, that dream came fair. Granted, the series does detached sustain that 60’s feel (especially with the style of the music, and of course the “military uniform” mini-skirts), there was so great of it that made for mountainous television even for today. The effects being updated really gives the series credibility and believability for viewers and allows the fresh series to fit in properly with all the incarnations that came afterward. Bringing it to High-Definition was truly a huge thought, and the live-action image quality is drastically improved, so great so that at times it gives the series an entirely unique feel!

Agreed by both casual viewers as well as die-hard fans, the second season of “Star Poke” provides us with a multitude of approved episodes. Two episodes in particular that are given righteous treatment and extraordinary updating are “The Doomsday Machine” and “The Immunity Syndrome”. “The Doomsday Machine”, next to “The City on the Edge of Forever” is considered one of the best from the Recent Series, even in its unrefined get. The updating on this episode effect it into advance movie-quality, far surpassing many Star Breeze episodes, includng many from other spin-off series, and even perhaps a couple of the motion pictures. An attractive do, to me, was how the remastering of “The Immunity Syndrome” made a not-so-great episode into a spectacular episode! The 1966 effects were trustworthy at the time, but the remastering gives it a whole original sense of realism and scope. Other classic episodes like “Amok Time”, “The Inconvenience With Tribbles”, and “Mirror, Mirror” are given grand treatments, also.

As of August 6th, I’ve purchased this state and have been thoroughly enjoying it as grand as I knew I would. One of the most well-liked complaints of one-star reviewers is that this season, unlike the previous season’s release, is ONLY on DVD, not on Blu-ray or even HD-DVD. Don’t let that discourage you. Even in this standard DVD version, Star Amble is given original life unlike ever before. This DVD’s visual quality is far better than any previous releases, especially since that this is a down-conversion of the cleaned-up High-Definition source. On a regular 480i/p CRT TV, it looks marvelous. On an HDTV, a top-notch 1080p DVD up-converter will give you an well-behaved describe from the DVD; granted of course, it will not be the same as an HD release (no up-converter can do that, but they can collect discontinuance) . The truth of it is that this DVD will be better than what you can glance on broadcast TV. I’ve even noticed that the standard DVD quality is better than the “HD” TV broadcasts.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Star Trek: The Original Series - Season Two! Click Here

There have also been those who have wondered what Gene Roddenberry would have conception of this rebuffing of the series. To acknowledge that, here is a segment from an interview with the executive producers of the remastered project on that very question:

“What do you judge Gene Roddenberry would deem of the remastered effects?

Dave Rossi: When Gene passed away and his estate requested that all memos and paperwork from the Unique Series through TNG be turned over, I was the person whose job it was to wade through 27 years of material. One theme that popped up with some regularity in Gene’s memos was “What can we do to improve the visual effects? ” While that alone isn’t an acknowledge, the relieve the Roddenberry family and people like Bob Justman have shown during this project really reinforces the belief that Gene was always striving to improve the effects to serve bring the world of Star Trail alive. We’re honored to aid fulfill that wish.

Mike Okuda: We had a number of long talks with Matt Jefferies before he died. For understandable reasons, Matt was one of our heroes. He was inwardly very proud of his work on Star Roam, but he was always very apologetic for the limitations of 1960s production techniques. He kept saying how he wished he had the technology that was developed after the exhibit ended. We always responded by reminding him that his designs were a major reason why the expose remains successful and watchable to this day. At the same time, it convinced us that he would have been the first to stand in line to update his believe work, if he had been able.”

Bottom Line — If you are willing to wait for the Blu-ray versions, that’s resplendent. I’m not. As a lover of the Novel Series, it’s objective too sterling to pass up. My hat’s off to to all those who participated in this incredible remastering danger and for turning a dream of mine into reality.

The second season of “Star Trek: The New Series” was a particularly strong one with many outstanding episodes but it also had its section of duds as the grind of producing a weekly TV series wore down the production team. This unique remaster uses digitally restored episodes along with fresh visual effects added recently. Episodes such as “The Doomsday Machine” and “Amok Time” both serve substanially from the recent visuals. The broken-down episode a tense one about an used artifact from a long forgotten war that destroys planets features fresh visuals that compliment the myth. The fresh model for the U.S.S. Constellation which is ravaged by the planet eater was an AMC model that looked terrific at home not so terrific when compared to the Enterprise model. The visual effects crew burned and damaged the plastic model but it never looked realistic. Here you can actually glance the abet beams where the skin was torn off the Constellation in battle. It makes the episode that worthy more great and the scenes as the Enterprise rapid moves in to attack the machine witness particularly capable even if they are in standard definition on this DVD.

We also catch duds like “The Omega Glory” where Gene Roddenberry attempts to utilize a “Rush” episode as a metaphor for the Cool War. Gene L. Coon left during the second season which means the demonstrate lost of one its most creative writer-producers. Coon was one of the finest writers on the production team (along with D.C. Fontana and John D.F. Dismal during the first season) during the first and second season John Meredyth-Lucas (who wrote the classic episode “The Changling” where the Enterprise’s fate hinges on a case of wrong identity by an ancient station probe and which probably inspired Alan Dean Foster’s fable “In Thy Image”. That narrative was to be the pilot episode of the unusual series with most of the novel cast. When “Star Trek: The Motion Relate” was build into production instead Harold Livingston (with some rewrites by Gene Roddenberry) retooled the episode into a feature film directed by Robert Wise) came on board and wrote/directed a number of very suitable episodes filling grand of the void left by the tedious Coon.

We glean almost all the originals special features ported over from the previous boxed status of the second season except for the text commentary tracks. We also find “Billy Blackburn’s Home Movies” which gives us more footage behind-the-scenes narrated by Blackburn that was shot when the expose was in production. Additionally, we accept the “Star Trek: The Inspiring Series” episode “More Grief, More Tribbles” with David Gerrold’s optional commentary track and the “Trials and Tribble-ations” droll tribute episode from “Star Trek: Deep Status Nine”. There are also some extras ported over from the “DS9″ situation that had this episode on it including two featurettes “Uniting Two Legends” and “An Historic Endeavor” which discusses the challenges of creating this episode, making it work as a “DS9″ episode even though it had a “gimmick” and the difficult in combining the “DS9″ crew into the ragged “Trot” episode. We also accumulate previews for the episodes. The menu is the same manufacture as the previous residence. Kudos to Paramount for including the other two “Tribble” episodes with the extras. While it didn’t cost them great to include they could have given us NOTHING.

In location of a booklet we collect the individual plastic cards that have a picuture on the front from an episode on that status along with details on the relieve about the episodes and extras. I don’t like the cards although they are a clever plan. Which brings us to the flimsy packaging. The plastic case would be tall if the hinges weren’t so shapely and broke so easy. The form is spellbinding and the intent was genuine but the execution was lacking.

The predicament with this area though is simple–this was originally to be a dual sided DVD/HD-DVD combo. While the HD-DVD format may be slow, Paramount went ahead and ragged the two sided hybrid discs that they had purchased for the previous season space to effect these but didn’t set anything on the “HD” side of the disc except the same disc info as on the previous state. I understand that Paramount was reluctant (with their funding from Toshiba pulled who paid Paramount for the queer rights to release this to HD-DVD) to continue on but they should have finished what they started for HD-DVD owners. If nothing else, Paramount should have keep episodes on the flip side with the novel visual effects so fans could idea either version of the display.

I’m disappointed that Paramount didn’t achieve together a Blu-ray version in time to coincide with this release but I suspect they recognized that many fans will retract this AND the Blu-ray so they could double dip. The HD masters were probably already prepared so they should have arrive out at the same time.

Regardless, this is a sparkling season with some episodes sporting novel visual effects that manufacture a disagreement while others they are mere decoration. The extras are shapely but Paramount should have included the current episodes with the recent visual effects or the HD-DVD versions. They also should have released this to Blu-ray at the same time. Recommended but with hesitation because you unbiased know a Blu-ray version is in the pipeline.

How amazing it is to have this novel movie beautifully restored to its recent length and scene order by the British Film Institute.

Until about ten years ago, I had never seen this film. I had never rented the lop, reconfigured tape, because I didn’t consider I’d like the film (in any obtain) . But the L.A. County Museum of Art had an Archers’ retrospective several years ago that included the BFI restoration print. Despite many of there pictures being among my favorites, I unruffled belief I was in for a hoary WW II propaganda film. I could wander if I didn’t like it.

Was I ever sinful. I came out considering it among The Archers best works. which in my book, means one of the finest films ever.

“The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp,” in the unique version, is a radiant mix of WW II propaganda, an often whimisical loving satire of the system. It is ultimately one of the most winning anti-war films ever. In a different design, as superior as “Great Illusion.”

This low-key tale begins with the Boer War, when Blimp is a young (too) gung-ho officer to the time the film was made–mid-war 1943. The cast is proper. Roger Livesey gives one of the best performances imaginable. Deborah Kerr (18) at the time, gives a tour-de-force performance as the three different women Blimp falls for in the 40-year span of the film. Anton Walbrook Is so radiant in this film. This man I am now convinced was one of the greatest actors of the 20th Century. His controversial character is a German officer Blimp befriends in the Boer War and they become life-time friends, with Blimp vouching for him being permitted to quit in England during WW II. Walbrook’s scene explaining why he has left Germany is as grand, if not greater than his curtain speech in “Red Shoes.” Most other actors would have turned this into maudlin sentimentality. Walbrook instead gave me a giant lump in my throat. I don’t lump easily.

If you’ve never seen the complete, uncut and untampered with film and are Archers devotee, this is the version for you.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp - Criterion Collection! Click Here

The extras are uniformly radiant. The commentary track with Martin Scorsesse and director Michael Powell, from a recording he made on first viewing the restored film, is consuming and perceptive. He sounds very worn and can be hard to understand because of it, but it is worth the extra disaster to hear him comment on one of his personal favorites.

There is also an advantageous half-hour or so documentary, that includes Emeric Pressburger’s grandson, that helps define why and how the film was tampered with and almost never seen as a result of Prime Minister Winston Churchill trying to ban it. No luck in England. J. Arthur Unfavorable released it in his English theatres and advertised “Examine The Banned Film.” And it was a vast hit. The “banned” got the initial audiences in, word-of-mouth made it the movie too peer. Winnie also failed in his attempts to discontinuance exportation to other countries.

One of the most incandescent, witty, serious, breathtakingingly splendid Technicolor films ever released.

Get this Criterion adore now. It also includes several Colonel Blimp “new” editorial cartoons, by Blimp creator David Indecent. Some are timely today and could bustle with the names changed to suit today’s political and military madness. The editorial cartoons were a revelation to me.

Archer Fans, order now and have a really complete collection of these recent gems.

The chap from England, below, is absolutey, good.

This and “A Matter of Life and Death” are Powell & Presberger’s masterpieces, before they descended into the schmalz of “The Red Shoes”. The yarn of the essentially decent British and German gentlemen, played by Roger Livesey and Anton Walbrook respectively, quickly becoming dinosaurs in the changing Europe between the Boer War and the Blitz, yet clinging to their values despite being kicked in the face by the brutalisation of Germany and by the consequent brutalisation of a Britain attempting to survive against barbarism. Their friendship begins from the mutual respect engendered by a duel fought reluctantly for the honour of their respective traditions at the time of the Boer War. During convalescence they vie for the hand of Deborah Kerr, turning up in the first of 3 roles. Livesey’s shyness leaves Walbrook holding the field. Nearly 20 years pass until they meet again, at a POW camp in Britain. Livesey’s principal naivete rides roughshod over the wartime enmity, but Walbrook’s response is ambivalent, and the reunion is short-lived and bittersweet. Livesey marries Deborah Kerr’s reincarnation as a nurse, because of a resemlance to his first care for. A further 20 years pass. Livesey, widowed, is asked to act as sponsor for Walbrook, now exiled from Germany, also widowed and estranged from his Nazi children. Together they reach to terms with their sidelining in a world of younger men with few of the traditional values. Deborah Kerr turns up for the third time as Livesey’s driver as he moves from army officer to Home Guard organiser, refusing to be pushed out of the fight. In appearance Livesey’s character assumes the appearaqnce of David Low’s cartoon Colonel Blimp, but underneath he is more rounded; decent, suited to and proper to friends, dreary to denegrate his foes and totally patriotic, but finally nobody’s fool. John Laurie appears in a palatable cameo as Livesey’s batman/manservant, crusty but trusty. His boss may occasionally arouse and perlex, but Laurie recognises the basic decency, as, finally, all do who reach into contact with him. It may be propaganda, but it is tranquil sparkling.

This entire movie is spirited, unlike the first two Stuart Small movies. I was willing to win that since it is a third movie that went straight to video. All the mountainous name voices are in it ….all the people from the last movies. The animation is that grievous budget computer generated stuff you view in the Barbie movies. The record is okay but no comparison to the first two. I will say this about it though….my 4yr old-fashioned loves it. I did obtain it for her so all in all it is a glorious movie…unbiased not the quality you would examine having seen the first two.

The only salubrious news about the second sequel to `Stuart Little’ is that you can hear the voices of three famous actors of the modern — Michael J. Fox, Geena Davies, and Hugh Laurie. Except that, I can score nothing that would explain the decision of making another entry into the series. There is no state-of-the-art images merging seamlessly the live-action and CGI-created creatures. So what’s the point of making this one?

Buy,Download, Or Stream Stuart Little Movie Collection! Click Here

The film is all shot in animation, and the animation is fair cheesy. I know I should not interrogate Pixar in direct-to-video films, but it is not a totally gay thing to gape the characters with clunky designs, whose dull movement looks so awkward that you might remember the unnaturally inspiring heads or arms of the characters on video games made five or six years ago, or the filmed version of `Final Fantasy.’ Frankly this animation needs better software.

At least, the filmmakers are wise not to change the basic points of the `SL’ world. Again we are to meet the Itsy-bitsy Family, this time going on vacation for summer. Stuart joins in the `Lake Scout’ with his brother George, which results in another misadventure on the lake as you know he would.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Stuart Little Movie Collection! Click Here

The chronicle gets more engrossing when a original character Reeko wisecracking skunk appears in the forest where, it is rumored, powerful and horrified `Beast’ rules mercilessly. Somehow this skunk likes Stewart Tiny, and Stewart the skunk, and their friendship is tested when Snowbell gets into a enormous misfortune.

Virginia Madsen and Peter MacNicol also provide voices, but that doesn’t add remarkable to the entire film.

Regular characters like Mr. and Mrs. Dinky, or Monty approach befriend, but the film spends beautiful grand time to introduce and follow the yarn of the skunk, who is not particularly a comic character. There is an unnecessary `funky’ musical sequence about Rikko `skunk with a funk’ which completely misunderstands the target audiences of the film.

Though kids might bask in it, `SL3′ is a sizable disappointment after watching two previous works, especially the rousing finale of `SL2.’ The reason why they shot this film fully in unremarkable animation composed mystifies me.

I am probably one of the few people on this planet who saw this film in a movie theater. It bombed at the box office, mostly because the movie was given zero promotion from the studio. Tranquil, as a fan of Bollywood movies, I really enjoyed it.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Marigold! Click Here

This movie is in English, making it a splendid choice for anyone looking to check out Bollywood for the first time. It follows the classic Bollywood savor myth formula, which a lot of people have ridiculed it for. Yes, it is predictable. But it is unexcited done well. Personally, I take “predictable and done well” over a lot of Hollywood movies that have absurd swerves and surprises that don’t build sense.

Anyway, the film has Bollywood superstar Salman Khan and American actress Ali Larter from the TV demonstrate “Heroes”. The musical numbers are done glowing well as is the dancing. Overall, the movie is a lot of fun. The two of them earn a nice couple, and I actually bought the admire yarn. I highly recommend the film.

If your not certain about Bollywood or those kind of crazy, perky, jump into song and dance Indian movies that seem to accelerate forever, this might be a apt intro or, at least, a more toothsome choice.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Marigold! Click Here

Synopsis: A barely B-movie grade, discouraged, crass, American actress(Ali Larter) gets stranded in India. There she discovers friendship, work, cherish and a chance to be her apt self. Her treasure interest Prem(Salman Khan), a choreographer teaching her to dance, holds secrets of his bear, and the anecdote unfolds in typical Bollywood fashion with musical numbers, comedy and romance. Add a few gentle twists and shapely, Indian scenery, and you have a very pleasurable, although predictable( aren’t they all!), romantic comedy.

Ali Larter makes no bones about lack of dancing ability which matches her character. She’s done a few obscure movies and lots of TV and modeling(recently seen tastefully attired on a Cosmo hide) . And she does a pleasurable job transforming from B-word diva want-to-be to sensitive, vulnerable heroine. She also sings and learns to dance. In the extras, she comes across very down to earth and sweet in what indeed had to be a most provocative role. Hopefully, we’ll peep more of her.

Her eminent Indian co-star, Salman Khan is an improbable and somewhat unfamiliar sort. According to Ali, he hardly rehearses, learns the dance steps swiftly, and he’s a bit difficult to work with. I deem his rude toned, suave state would suit radio perfectly. I fancy the secondary actors best for their comedy. Their sense of timing along with that accent always cracks me up.

American director Willard Carroll who studied tons of Bollywood flicks puts it together nicely. The ‘Making of Marigold’ in the extras sums it up in a entertaining indicate of cultural clashes and glitches: like trying to film at the Taj Mahal, fraction mealing the extravagant, musical numbers together, shooting on space and avoiding mob scenes and overall, trying to note an American tolerable movie that’s composed reflects the Bollywood/Kollywood/whatever format.

If you’re into lawful Bollywood, this movie will probably annoy you; otherwise, savor a musical, romantic romp along with a tour through a mystical land.

I’d have to say I was disappointed when I first saw the first episodes of Unlimited. It was named Final Fantasy, but very miniature linked it to the fabulous video game series of the same name. The fable seemed immature and generic and not interwoven with many character driven side stories; only the Final Fantasy mascots appeared (Chocobo, for one) ; and the music didn’t judge the classical style that went with the games. So, needless to say, I didn’t bother buying anymore of the DVDs in the series.

Then the box region came out, and I admitted to myself that I was at least racy about how this series would demolish, plus I had learned that Gonzo made Unlimited, and Gonzo has yet to fail me in any of my anime endeavors. I bought it, and I watched the first episodes again. I cringed, because suddenly I felt the same draw and even found a few more things I disliked about it. But I didn’t cessation, and continued to gape, and found that, slowly, this series evolved. It became emotionally driven, with a lot of elements that made Final Fantasy titanic. There were mascots galore (the stated chocobo, cactuar, moogles, summons, and Cid) . Some of the music heard can be heard in previous games (the opening song–not the title song–and the battle victory) .

Still, it wasn’t as Final Fantasy as its namesake, but I found that in watching the anime the entire procedure through that that was okay. Though it isn’t a reliable chapter in Final Fantasy, it’s a titanic stand-alone anime nonetheless. It has tremendous animation, a unique style that seems both classical and cutting edge (Astroboy with CG) . The memoir deepens as the two main characters search for their parents, and other tale lines instruct themselves as well, such as Kaze’s legend, the main character in charge of a great gun generous of summoning creatures into battle, and Lisa, a martial artist with the power to control elements. The antagonists also turn into something more than they had been in the beginning. A deeper, more gross foe appears later, one that adds a sense of panic to the fable that wasn’t there previously. All in all, it adds up to one decent anime. And the value itself can’t be beaten. Twenty-five episodes of anime for less than fifty-bucks.

It’s difficult, however, to recommend this anime. I’d only recommend this to Final Fantasy fans who don’t remove the game too serious. If you do, you’ll be disappointed with this anime. I’d also recommend it for anyone who enjoys experimentation in their animation. If you enjoyed Kid’s Yarn in the Animatrix, you’ll like this.

When I first heard that there was a Final Fantasy series that was to be introduced as a DVD series in the US I was quite wrathful. Certainly, as a game series, Final Fantasy has consistenly hit high marks in both chronicle and graphics. It seemed reasonalble to ask that the series, coming out at the same time as other series that have shown landmark levels of quality would be something to observe. Alas, that is not the case.

A expansive tower of light suddenly plunges into the recent world, and stout monsters appear in anecdote battles. The world changes subtly as a darker presence begins to bewitch possession of the shadows. A pair of research scientists initiate an investigation, but recede moral after they publish a book about a uncommon underground world that seems to have appeared factual under our feet. Now it falls to Yu and Ai Hayakawa to try and regain their parents. The board an outlandish subway lisp, and are transported to…Wonderland.

In this DVD we recall our first tour of wonderland, as the young children witness the mysteries and threats that surround then and come by novel companions like Lisa, who has her beget special variety of ‘martial arts,’ and Kaze who uses a magical gun to carry out his role as a summoner (remember FF8 and FFX) . At indicate the record stays focussed at this level, a bit more fight and adventure oriented, although I seek information from that the serious tale arcs will gradually become more vital.

While the work is acceptible as standard Saturday morning cartoon fareit really lakes the flair that marks most Final Fanasty work. In fact, other than some creatures like Chocobos, it really has very tiny in favorite with the Final Fantasy game series. Scripting and character development are minimal, aimed at an audience that isn’t quite ready for the complex relationship building which marks the show’s namesakes. And the artwork is provocative in spots, but more cartoon-like, reminiscent of than the originals.

A speedy discover at the credits shows that there is very dinky substandard over between the game creators and the series staff. This explains many of the small gaps that obtain the prove confusing for a long time fan. If one approaches this as an independent work rather than as an heir to one of gaming’s greatest lineages, then it is an acceptable and inviting series. Grasp if you are looking for the world of Gaia, peopled with Yuna’s, Strife’s, and Vivi’s you are going to be disappointed, as I was.

Danny Deckchair is as charming a movie as I’ve seen in years - a total surprise of a film with a heart as titanic as the large continent it comes from.

Rhys Ifans is nothing short of incredible as Danny - bringing a believability factor to a role that easily could have near off as slap-shtick. Ifans brings an inherent vulnerability that makes Danny, a bit of a loser, immediately likeable. He isn’t fully prepared - nor is the viewer - for the considerable poke he finds himself taking and Ifans expressive face registers everything; dismay, nettle, disbelief, acceptance, but most of all wonder. The transformation Danny undergoes upon his unexpected arrival in Clarence is mighty as his life changes in almost unimaginable ways. Where in Sydney he’d been stuck in a dumb extinguish job (where he composed made his bear fun) living with a woman increasingly growing weary of him, no right prospects for the future and his “lame” ideas shot down at every turn, in Clarence he is hailed as a hero, transforming not only himself but Glenda and the town itself.

Miranda Otto’s Glenda is a gloriously rare creature, an enigma: tough yet fragile as lace the town views her almost as an outcast, yet when Danny arrives, she becomes adored by everyone. Otto’s transformation is no less fantastic than Danny’s and as the film progresses she almost literally glows. She becomes the ideal woman in nearly every contrivance imaginable. When things accumulate tough, we stare another crack in her veneer and learn a lot when she cries out “I objective don’t want to feel.” Otto makes it utterly impossible not to topple in admire with this comely creature.

The supporting cast all turn in terrific performances, both the folks encourage in Sydney and Danny’s recent life in Clarence.

The film - and Danny’s message comes across loud and clear: there are no itsy-bitsy blokes, no runt jobs, no small anything, that everything in the world matters and has worth.

Watching Danny Deckchair one slips serve a microscopic into a world where anything is possible - especially if you’ve got a few dozen balloons and a couple tanks of helium!

This gets my highest recommendation.

“Danny Deckchair” isn’t a complex movie, nor is it particularly deep. If you’re looking for a serious drama about relationships and treasure, peer elsewhere. If, however, you’re looking for a genuinely charming and silly movie that will leave you feeling attractive pleasant overall by the demolish, then this is it.

Danny, a “cement man” in Sydney, Australia, leads a gorgeous normal life with his girlfriend, his house, his weekend barbeques, and his friends. He does, however, have some radiant crazy ideas. Frustrated in his fruitless attempts to remove a vacation somewhere out of the blueprint, and confused by his reaction to his girlfriend’s possible infidelity, he comes up with the craziest one ever: strap a grand bunch of yellow helium balloons to a lawn chair and watch where it takes him. To the surprise of everyone (including himself!), it works, and it takes him to the cramped town of Clarence. There, he discovers the possibility of fresh worship in the get of the local parking meter cop who first finds him when he falls out of the sky, and he finds that he can be someone principal after all: himself.

I adore watching “Danny Deckchair” because it walks so many beautiful lines so well. It’s a miniature predictable, but not insulting. It’s fun and amusing, without delving into stupidity. It’s a “feel-good” movie but it’s not saccharine-sweet. The two main actors (Rhys Ifans and the radiant Miranda Otto) are really likable and have a lot of natural chemistry, without any of it seeming forced or manufactured. It’s objective a fun movie to gaze when you need a pick-me-up, or when you want to feel delighted about something. And, corny as it sounds, it’s a runt reminder about some of the more notable things in life…recent discoveries, happiness, friendship, and yes, worship.

Watching “Danny Deckchair” is kind of like a runt vacation all its possess, without the extra expense, stress, or the need for a bunch of yellow balloons. Have a seat, grab a frosty drink and someone you esteem to beget on to, and unprejudiced savor it.

In my understanding, the final episode of “Dinosaurs”, entitled “Changing Nature”, is the best final episode of ANY series ever shown on television. It gives its absorb comedic and touching version of why the Dinosaurs became faded, and it has an determined relevance to the novel environmental place. Unfortunately, it appears as if the episodes are presented on the DVD not in production order, but in release order. In other words, there are several originally unaired episodes which are presented on the disc after “Changing Nature”. If you bewitch this state, which I heartily recommend, do yourself a favor and sight “Changing Nature” last.

I always liked this reveal when ABC broadcast it in the 90’s, but it seemed ABC did not have faith in Henson’s team. The program kept appealing time slots, and there were long gaps between seasons (could this be due to the complexity of production? ) Anyway, it seems “Changing Nature” was clearly meant to be a SERIES finale. It is one of the most touching you will glimpse, and truly a revelation (I didn’t earn it upon it’s initial airing) .

We also have a few episodes that were never aired by ABC (as a special treat), one of them a humorous parody of Barney the Dinosaur. For this reason alone, fans who taped every episode MUST bewitch this position for a COMPLETE collection. You also find two commentaries and two featurettes.

Dinosaurs (like the Simpsons), is one of those shows kids esteem, and parents enjoy because the humor is gleaming, not condescending.
